Molly Hand, a native of Birmingham, Alabama would best be described as an artistic mutt. An Irish dancer for the past 10 years, she is Director of the Alabama Academy
of Irish Dance. She is also a photographer and mixed media artist.
Generally
distracted by shiny things, Molly decided it best to work with wire,
found metal objects, and old jewelry - as it would hold her attention long
enough to finish a project. Inspiration for the construction of her sculptures
comes from a 1999 visit to an organization working in third world countries creating tools, toys, and even homes with re-appointed materials.
